Human beings are the most dramatic species on the planet, and actors have a double helix of drama!
For some reason when we work, we shut down our innate drama. We neutralize that aspect of us that is funny, weird and dramatic. Why is it that we don’t bring that permission to be weirdly messy and fun in the work? Sometimes we get limited by this sense that acting for tv and film is like “this” and we have to completely face-act. It’s a myth.
Even if you were trying to simplify yourself, the dramatic nature of who you are is flying inside. The baseline should be your own innate drama. It’s easier to pull someone back than to extract something out of them. Let loose and connect to your dramatics and we’ll find the sweet spot.
