Austin has performed in numerous theatre, TV, film, commercial, and online projects over the decades, earning awards and praise for his performances. Recently, his work as LEE in the Sam Shepard classic True West was praised by Broadway World, who said that he delivered "a naturalistic performance that is astounding in his commitment to the level of physicality as the tensions rise," and John Shand of the Sydney Morning Herald exclaimed that "Hayden's ferocious performance won't be quickly forgotten." Again picking up a Sam Shepard piece, Austin's work as SLIM in Cowboy Mouth was called "Gloriously vibrant, but also achingly vulnerable" by Theatre Red, and an "engrossing storm of semi-poetic musings mixed with fierce grappling" by Limelight's Jason Blake. On screen, Austin recently worked on two Amazon Studios feature films, Ron Howard's Eden and Shane Black's Play Dirty. He is the former host of the number #1 film podcast in America, Wisecrack's "Show Me the Meaning" (RIP), and has recently started a new film podcast project called "Cinemythology." He has conceived, packaged, and sold TV shows and films as a producer, with his most recent feature Inventing the Future having been heralded as one of the best experimental/avant-garde films of the decade. Bringing all of this together into an artistic stew, Austin relishes the opportunity to foster an environment where the actor can explore and create without fear of judgment. The world outside the halls of the studio is harsh and judgmental; but inside we are building joyous, infectious, and transformative story. Come play!
